Verified official guidance currently available is for Workmen’s Auto / Orion Indemnity personal auto in California. Preferred/target business: non-standard private passenger auto for California residents, with vehicles owned or leased by individuals, spouses, or registered domestic partners; eligible units are private passenger autos, station wagons, pickups, and vans, provided pickups/vans are not over 1 ton and not used for delivery. Vehicles must be registered and principally garaged in California for at least 10 months per year, and the named insured or resident relative must be the registered owner/lessee. Workmen’s states it will provide a Good Driver Discount policy to any applicant meeting California Good Driver requirements even if other underwriting criteria would otherwise conflict. Restricted/declined: unacceptable risks other than Good Drivers include drivers with 3+ major violations in 35 months, 4+ at-fault accidents in 35 months, more than 12 WAIC violation points, felony motor-vehicle convictions in the last 35 months, prior balances due to Workmen’s, prior insurance fraud convictions, prior WAIC rescission/cancellation/nonrenewal for fraud or misrepresentation, named insureds under 18, applicants lacking permanent garaging address or valid photo ID, PO box/mail-drop garaging addresses, motels/hotels as garaging addresses, FR filings when all household vehicles are not insured with Workmen’s, vehicles used for livery/taxi, transport of school/nursery children, migrant workers, hotel/nursing-home guests, emergency use, scheduled or speedy delivery, personal vehicle sharing, hauling explosives/flammables, leasing/renting to others, or policies combining vehicles from more than one household. Physical damage restrictions include no physical damage without liability, no special equipment market, manufacturer-installed audio/video only with limited coverage, and ineligible physical damage for high-symbol/high-value vehicles, grey-market units, and similar nonstandard exposures. Geographic notes: California-specific underwriting/rating guide; financial responsibility filings are issued only for California. Submission/binding requirements: producer must have a valid Producer Agreement, submit policy data electronically, and transmit gross down payment by EFT; do not bind any risk designated unacceptable. Producer must retain signed originals of the application and all related forms/correspondence, maintain mature driver discount documentation and registration copies when requested, send proof of non-fault accidents to underwriting the same day an application is uploaded or driver added, and perform/retain vehicle inspections with photos of all four sides for vehicles with physical damage.
